The department offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees. The advanced curriculum and educational programs of the department act as a bridge between Turkish and Azerbaijani languages and literature and enable students to become qualified teachers. They study history and dialects of Turkish (Gokturk Turkish , Harezm Turkish, Kipchak Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Azerbaijani Turkish, Uzbek Turkish) , take a close look at the changes the Turkish language has gone through over centuries and study examples of literary works from the earliest phase of its emergence to this day. The graduates of the department, many of whom are already employed, may work as public school teachers. They can also work at universities or scientific research institutions as philologists, translators or researchers provided that a Master's degree has been completed. They can also work as teachers of Azerbaijani language provided that they have completed an eight-month course.
